The cement system allows for high-quality cementing of wellbore sections located in the MPP (main pay zone). The cement of this system exhibits accelerated strength development even at low temperatures. The system has reduced heat evolution during hydration, preventing rock melting and borehole diameter increase.
ACS (Arctic Cement System for MWD) is a multi-component mixture of predominantly inorganic materials
Physical properties
Appearance: powder, ranging from grey to dark grey color Solubility in water: partial
Properties of cement stone
Density of cement slurry: 1.4 g/cm³ – 1.9 g/cm³ Compressive strength after 24 hours at 5°C: not less than 4 MPa Initial setting time: from 4 hours State change time: less than 20 minutes Coefficient of frost resistance: not less than 0.7 W/(m·K) Compressive strength at -5°C not less than 3.5 MPa Thickening time at 5°C: adjustable
Advantages
Reduction of initial setting time due to high strength gain rate;
Operability even at low temperatures - 0°C hydration temperature and low thermal conductivity coefficient;
Low heat of reaction - absence of rock melting and maintenance of nominal wellbore diameter;
Has thixotropic properties.
Usage limitations
Operating temperature range from -5°C to +20°C
Packaging and storage conditions
The Arctic Cement System for HDD is packaged in flexible containers (FIBC) weighing up to 1 ton, equipped with a triple polyethylene liner. The product should be stored in a dry place on pallets away from moisture, open flame, and heating appliances. After opening the FIBC, it is necessary to ensure the packaging is sealed tightly to prevent product spoilage. The product shelf life is at least 12 months.
APPLICATION
For the extreme north
For cementing casing strings in the regions of the Far North where permafrost intervals are encountered.
Seals well
In all types of mixing equipment.
Effective at low temperatures
From -5°C to 20°C. If necessary, the water loss of the cement slurry can be further reduced in the Arctic system.
